Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx 3 (7/13 | 2/1)
People with influence, equipped to lead, whose sound logic and attention to the past play a key role in directing humanity toward a secure future. (Gates 7-13-2-1)
In the shadowed depths of the Human Design wheel, you awaken from the pyramid's flank, crowned with Thoth's crescent moon and ibis feathers. You are the chosen general and the reluctant democrat, the silent abdicator and the inevitable commander. With the cold blade of logic you dissect the corpse of history, reading tomorrow’s coordinates in yesterday’s wounds.
Gate 7 is the hexagram of the Army—the gate of self-role positioning, authoritarian, democrat, anarchist, abdicator, general, administrator, the elected leader, the design of the convergence point, to guide and direct the collective, the need for leadership, establishing viable patterns to lead us into the future. You can treat it as your own affair or just guide from your experience. Ultimately, you seek influence, even if you leave after guiding. Gate 7 has many ways to point the road (depending on the line number of your life role), for those who care about their future well-being, you are their guiding light.
Gate 13 is Heaven over Fire hexagram—empathy, paranoia, pessimism, exhaustion, savior, optimist, the secret listener, in a structured framework, with chess-like ideas and values, inspiring human-centered cooperation. Accumulated knowledge from past cycles becomes memory.
Gate 2 is the hexagram of Earth—intuition, genius, patience, concealment, flexible application, fixation, returning to one/supreme state: wholeness/gift: positioning/shadow: dislocation/repressive tendency: lost/reactive tendency: strictly controlled, the driver, no matter how you decide to respond, receptivity is the fundamental foundation, the root of action, supporting us in the reversal of separation.
Gate 1 is the hexagram of Heaven—creativity independent of will, love is light, sustained creative energy, solitude as the medium for creativity, energy to attract the social masses, objectivity, with creativity rooted in unique direction, unlimited, full of potential, enough to initiate inspirational energy, the individual fully expressed through interaction.
You were born wearing the crown of “the one who is recognized,” even when you would rather set it down. When the Collective looks up in fear, you are already standing on the ridge, drawing a line in the air that no one else can see yet everyone must follow. That line can be tender as a mother or merciless as a judge, but it is always logical — because you never forget. You are the living archive and the architect of what is to come.
The Egyptian Sphinx never takes a single step out of the sand. It only points. So it is with you: direction is your gift, leadership merely its occasional by-product. When people fall to their knees begging you to walk the path for them, remember the teaching of Thoth: true wisdom never weighs another’s heart-feather for them. You give the bearing, then retreat into silence so they must face the scale alone.
Thoth, god of knowledge and writing, the moonlit ibis who inscribed eternal law, guards the Quarter of Duality: through bonding with others we fulfill purpose — yet ultimately we weigh “simply for the sake of weighing.” You stand at the threshold between life and death, feather in one hand, heart in the other, reminding the world that in the end, every heart must weigh itself.
